There is a land yachting school on the local beach (Bretteville-sur-Ay) where you can book lessons. Some of the local riding schools offer beach rides. A local bar and grocery store is within 15 minutes walk (June - September). There are also local shellfish and oyster producers nearby
Holiday destination
The beautiful beaches have very few people on them, even in summer, but there is plenty to visit if you don't want to just sunbathe.
The local towns of Portbail, La Haye du Puits and Barneville-Carteret have a good selection of shops and restaurants and a weekly market (Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday).
Further afield, the Mont St. Michel, Bayeux and Cherbourg are all interesting, and day trips to Jersey, Guernsey or the Iles de Chaussey are easy to arrange.
Getting there
From Caen take the N13 until you pass Carentan, then take the sign for Barneville Carteret and head towards La Haye du Puits (D903). From La Haye du Puits take the D136 through Bretteville Bourg until you reach the main coastal road (D650). Turn right then take the first left after 100m (Charriere du Pilet). The house is 800m on the left by itself.

Wunderbares Essen auf unserem Rückweg nach Cherbourg. Sowohl die herzhaften als auch die süßen Crêpes waren köstlich. Wir würden auf jeden Fall zurückkehren, wenn wir das nächste Mal in der Gegend sind.

Wir nutzen dieses Restaurant seit einigen Jahren und haben es stets als ausgezeichnet empfunden. Eine herzliche Begrüßung, sehr effizienter Service, makellose Sauberkeit und qualitativ hochwertige Speisen - durchweg. Ich empfehle, im Sommer zu reservieren.
