The Vulkaneifel is home to some magical maars. The two maars closest to us can be reached on foot: the "Immerather Maar" is a nature reserve and the "Pulvermaar" has a bathing establishment, restaurants, and a boat rental.
A little farther away you will find the "Dauner Maare“: Meerfelder Maar, Schalkenmehrener Maar, and Gemündener Maar. The village of Immerath offers a "course of the senses" and a school museum in what has got to be one of the oldest school buildings in the Vulkaneifel region.
Two wildlife parks, "Wild- und Erlebnispark Daun" and "Adler- und Wolfspark Kasselburg" make for exciting destinations for day trips as well as the Nürburgring, and cities such as ochem, Trier oder Luxemburg. The Mosel River is only 22 km away.
In Bad Bertrich, which is 13 km away, is home to a thermal bath that gets its hot water from the volcanic rocks of the area.
Coming from Koblenz on the A 48 cross Autobahnkreuz Vulkaneifel by continuing straight. Immediately after the junction there is the "Mehren" junction.
On the A 1 from Trier or the A 60 from Bitburg the "Mehren" junction will be immediately before Kreuz Vulkaneifel. Leave the motorway here and turn right towards "Zell" and "Kinderbeuern". Then continue on this street for 3 junctions (approx. 5 kilometres).
After the third junction turn left towards Immerath. Drive down the hill, into Immerath, and drive up the street behind the sign with the place name. Our holiday home is the second house on the right.
