Holiday destination
In 1800, brave men first scaled Austria's highest peak, the Grossglockner (3,798 m). Here awaits you the largest national park in the Alps and one of the most diverse landscapes on earth: imposing waterfalls, vast glacier areas, rare animal and plant species that can be discovered with national park rangers.
Getting there
Take the motorway from the Kiefersfelden/Kufstein border crossing to the Kufstein Süd exit. From there, follow the signs towards Felbertauern, continue to Kitzbühel, cross the Pass Thurn, drive through Mittersill to Zell am See, and then continue via the Grossglockner High Alpine Road (closed in winter) to Großkirchheim. Alternatively, take the Tauern Motorway to Bischofshofen, continue through the Gastein Valley and use the car shuttle train from Bad Gastein to Mallnitz. From Mallnitz railway station, drive to Obervellach and then follow the Möll Valley Federal Road to Großkirchheim. Another option is to take the Tauern Motorway to the Spittal/Lendorf junction. From there, continue via Möllbrücke and follow the Möll Valley Federal Road to Großkirchheim. Meeting point on arrival: Restaurant Parkcafé Großkirchheim Döllach 185, 9843 Großkirchheim Please give us a call one day before your arrival to inform us of your expected arrival time (Tel. +43 664 3522690).

Host informationBetween a Sense of Home & the Joy of Discovery In the small hamlet of Ranach, it all began with a modest Jausenstation — simple, regional, and deeply connected to nature. This way of life continues today on the Schoberalm: grounded, shaped by craftsmanship, and lived in a warm, family spirit. Hunting is part of our family heritage as well. For generations, wildlife and forest have shaped how we experience the mountains — with mindfulness, respect, and an understanding of quiet times, tracks, and wildlife corridors. That’s why we share guidance for gentle wildlife observation at dusk, recommend suitable paths, and encourage mindful behaviour in nature. We are a host family from Carinthia, offering a place where people can truly breathe and unwind. What inspires us most is the encounter itself — the moment when the first step onto the alpine meadow turns into a feeling of deep relaxation. Our insider tips for hikes, alpine pastures, swimming spots, and culinary highlights are tailored individually — whether ...
