Worth visiting in Pianello del Lario is the international museum Barca Lariana, opened in 2019, which tells a 45-year story between the founder and the nautical world.

Villa Carlotta, built in 1690, is art-centric, with a magnificent view of the lake and Bellagio, and is distinguished by its fascinating botanical garden.

Varenna, built on a rocky promontory with its settlement dating back to the Romans, boasts an ancient castle.
The former fishing villages are characterized by lakeside restaurants offering local fish specialties or typical Italian dishes and the narrow alleyways of these villages, which steeply descend to the lake.
Take a stroll in the small town of Menaggio, where there is a mini-golf course, and from there and from Cadenabbia, you can catch boat departures to Bellagio and Varenna.

Getting there
Pianello can be reached by car via Lugano, towards Porlezza, Menaggio, and Sondrio, or from Milano, towards Como, Menaggio, Sondrio. Another option is from St Moritz, towards Milano, Colico, Menaggio.
By train and bus, Menaggio can be reached from Lugano and St-Moritz by post bus.
The local road Via dei Genovesi in Pianello has replaced the former name Frazione Calozzo.

Die Wohnung ist großzügig, mit viel Liebe eingerichtet und ist in einem top sauberen Zustand übergeben worden. Wir haben uns in dieser Wohnung gefühlt wie zu Hause. Toll war auch, dass die Kids nach dem See noch einmal in den Pool hüpfen konnten. Der Kontakt mit Frau Renck vor unserem Urlaub war sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. Der Empfang durch Katia in Pianello war sehr freundlich, sie war auch sonst bei Problemen immer erreichbar. Die Umgebung des Comer Sees ist traumhaft, leider braucht, um andere Orte zu erreichen, die zwar naheliegend sind, längere Zeit und viel Geduld. Im Ort Pianello ist leider so gut wie gar nichts, dafür kann man an der Seepromenade schön spazieren gehen. Was auch toll ist, den Hund kann man ohne Weiteres mit an den See nehmen.

Wir hatten den Eindruck, dass die Wohnung keine 110 qm hat. Es gab sehr viele Schrägen. Im Pool mußte man immer eine Badekappe tragen, falls nicht, wurde man sofort dazu genötigt. Das war etwas nervig. Auch waren keine Sonnenschirme vorhanden. Man hatte keinen Ausblick auf den Comer See, da man nur auf begrünte Mauern schauen konnte. Das war sehr schade. Ansonsten hatten wir keine Beanstandungen.
