Holiday destination

The house with the thatched roof is located at the end of a narrow cul-de-sac at the southern outskirts of Wyk directly at the beach. It offers its own garden and a beautiful view of the sea to the south. From the separate bath house with its own terrace and from the large balcony you can enjoy the stunning view to the tidelands with the island of Amrum, the holm Langeneß and Hooge. In 200 meter walking distance is the bus station "Flugplatz", a small mobile bakery stand offers fresh rolls (best ordered in advance), a bike rental are found close as well (both Am Flugplatz 9) and in within only a few minutes walk are the 27 hole golf course and one of the oldest airports of Schleswig-Holstein for small sports airplanes and helicopters.

Getting there

By car: From Hamburg you have two possibilities: 1. You take the A7 direction Flensburg and take the exit Flensburg-Harrislee. Follow the B199 direction Niebüll, after about 48 km you'll reach the port of Dagebüll. 2. You take the A23 direction Heide. From heide continue on the B5 to Husum and further on to Bredstedt. Just behind Bredstedttake a left turn direction Dagebüll-Hafen (port). Please remember to book the ferry well in advance (www.faehre.de), if you want to take the car on the island. By bus and train: directly at the ferryport to the islands is the station "Dagebüll-Mole", which is called several times a day by trains of the "neg" and the Deutsche Bahn. Regardless which way you chose to travel to the port of Dagebüll, there will always be the car-ferry from Dagebüll to travel another hour through the tidelands to Wyk on the island of Föhr. By car on the island of Föhr you follow the street "Am Hafen"/L214 from the ferry port for abour 2 km, then turn left to the street "Fehrstieg". Follow the Fehrstieg for about 1.5 km untill it makes a right turn, where the bus station "Flugplatz" appears. Here you'll turn slightly left to stay on the Fehrtieg, which changes here into a gravel road. Follow the gravel road for about 140 m till the end and turn left into the last driveway. Without a car you can take any bus starting from the busstop "Wyk Hafen" which is located at the ferry terminal 3 and leave the bus at the stop "Fluplatz". By bike (12 minutes) or foot (40 minutes) you can follow the promenade for 3.3 km until you enter the fehrstieg to your right.

Das Haus ist wunderschön, jedoch neben dem sehr großen Schlafzimmer mit großer Terrasse in der 1. Etage mit Meer- und Strandblick sind die anderen beiden Schlafzimmer sehr klein. Zwei Erwachsene mit zwei größeren Kindern sind unserer Meinung nach das Maximum._x000D_ _x000D_ Das einzige Bad ist sehr klein und gerade dann, wenn man nach dem Strandtag vor dem Abendessen Duschen möchte, gibt es selbst zu zweit im Wortsinn große Engpässe. Das Badfenster geht nur ganz zu öffnen, wobei dann das Nachbarhaus kompletten Direkt-Blick ins Badezimmer hat._x000D_ _x000D_ Das hauseigene WLAN reicht leider nicht auf die beiden Terrassen. Netflix und andere installierte Internet-Apps am TV funktionieren nicht, da der Fernseher nicht mit dem WLAN gekoppelt ist._x000D_ _x000D_ Das Grundstück ist sehr schön groß, hat einen Strandkorb auf der Erdgeschossterrasse sowie einen kleinen Pavillon mit Sitzgelegenheiten und Tisch an der Strand-Ecke (allerdings im Sitzen ohne Sicht auf den Strand / das Meer, dafür ist das aber der einzige Platz auf dem Grundstück mit Abendsonne)._x000D_ _x000D_ In wirklich sehr wenigen Schritten ist man am Strand, eine Stranddusche ist quasi vor dem Haus am Strandweg._x000D_ _x000D_ Wegen der Nähe der Jugendherberge hat man jedoch oft Schulklassen am Strand vor dem Haus, was die Idylle gegelegentlich akustisch etwas trübt._x000D_ _x000D_ Noch eintrübender für die Erholung ist das herrische und gouvernantenhafte Verhalten der Hausverwalterin Frau Lorenzen, die uns bei Abreise vorwarf:_x000D_ _x000D_ 1._x000D_ Wir hätten nicht zwischengereinigt (bei einer Woche Aufenthalt und einer überdurchschnittlichen Endreinigungsgebühr von 145 Euro)._x000D_ _x000D_ 2._x000D_ Wir hätten – ihrer Meinung nach unberechtigterweise – zwei Schlafzimmer benutzt, obwohl wir nur für zwei Personen gebucht haben, die dann also auch nur ein Schlafzimmer benutzen dürfen._x000D_ _x000D_ 3._x000D_ Wir hätten die empfindliche Ceran-Kochplatte nicht geschont (a. haben wir gemacht und b. wir haben nur einmal gekocht)._x000D_ _x000D_ 4._x000D_ Wir hätten die gebrauchten Handtücher nicht im Keller vor die Waschmaschine gelegt, sondern im Bad bzw. auf dem Wäscheständer gelassen. Der Wäscheständer gehört auch gefälligst in den Keller und nicht auf die Terrasse (wo man jedoch aus unserer Sicht gemeinhin ja seine Sachen trocknet)._x000D_ _x000D_ Aprospos Wäsche:_x000D_ Die Hausverwalterin ist sich nicht zu achade, in der Waschmaschine im Keller des Ferienhauses Wäsche zu waschen und dafür Grundstück und Haus zu betreten, auch wenn Feriengäste anwesend sind._x000D_ _x000D_ Noch etwas anderes:_x000D_ Auf meinen Hinweis, dass am Pavillon an der Strand-Ecke Schrauben aus dem Holzfußboden ragen und sich meine Reisebegleitung dort barfuß mit dem Ergebnis einer blutenden Risswunde verletzt hatte, kam keinerlei Bedauern oder Entschuldigung, sondern nur schnöde: "Ich werde dem Eigentümer Bescheid sagen"._x000D_ _x000D_ Fazit:_x000D_ Wunderbares, nicht ganz praktikables Haus in Traumlage am Strand mit einer diesen Attributen nicht gerecht werdenden Hausverwalterin, die sich auch nicht zu schade war, uns 3½ Stunden vor geplanter Ankunft auf der Autobahn anzurufen und wissen wollte, ob wir zur vereinbarten Zeit ankommen würden.
