Holiday destination

The traditional village Mirthios sits above the bay of Plakias and the Lybian sea, where you have a fantastic view to the environment (olive groves, mountains, Kotsifos and canyon). Four restaurants can be reached by foot in about 5 minutes, they are all famous for their traditional kitchen. A minimarket is also in this area. More restaurants, fish tavernas, Cafes, fruit markets, beach bars and clubs for entertainment are in the touristy Plakias 2,5 km away. Many beautfiul sandy beaches like Plakias, Foteinari, Souda, Damnoni, Amoudi, Skoinaria and so on can be reached after a distance of 2,5 km - 5 km.

Getting there

Recommended by plane or ferry to Heraklion or Chania. The hire car from the airport can be booked by us.

Zu Dritt haben wir ab Mitte Oktober 2025 zwei entspannte Wochen in der Villa Aretousa verbracht. Den stets zufriedenen Gästebucheintragungen können wir eigentlich wenig hinzufügen: obwohl offensichtlich end-of-season wurden wir immer wieder mit griechischen Köstlichkeiten freundlichst überrascht. Villa Aretousa findet sich (nach nur anfänglich kniffliger Anfahrt) oberhalb der Hauptstraße von Myrthios mit mehreren,immer gut besuchten Restaurants und ist doch total ruhig gelegen. Sehr gut gefallen hat uns der mini-mini-market Myrtia im Dorf, nach Vorbestellung konnten wir dort auch Brot und Eier von glücklichen Hühnern des Ortes kaufen. Unser Dank geht an die Gastgeberfamilie Peristerakis und sehr gerne auch an die Kirmaiers für ihre wie immer ausgezeichnete Organisation !

Wir haben eine traumhafte Zeit in der Villa Aretousa verbracht! Das Haus ist ein liebevoll restauriertes kretisches Steinhaus, das Tradition und modernen Komfort perfekt verbindet. Die Einrichtung im griechischen Stil ist geschmackvoll und mit vielen historischen Details dekoriert, vom alten Webrahmen bis zu den wunderschönen Fotografien an den Wänden. Der Außenbereich ist einfach herrlich: ein gepflegter kleiner Garten, ein privater Pool und eine große schattige Sitzecke mit Grill laden zum Entspannen ein. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns der fantastische Blick von der Villa über die Bucht von Plakias, das Libysche Meer und die umliegenden Berge...
