A public aquarium offers families with children a glimpse into the underwater world of the Mediterranean. Divers can experience this up close, best at one of the 22 islands that are easily accessible from Rovinj by ferry.
Red Island is the largest and most visited among them. It was purchased and planted by the Huetterott family at the end of the 19th century, so today more than 180 plant species grow on the island. Many pubs and the car-free inner cities make the islands romantic paradises for night owls.
Holiday destination
Villa Ema is approximately 2.5km away from the city center; the beach is just a 2-3 minute walk away; it is made of pebbles and stones. Here you will find cafes, ice cream, restaurants, snack bars, and play/sports facilities (playground for children, beach volleyball, tennis courts). There is also a diving station with a diving school.
From the beach, there is also a taxi boat that takes you to the city.
A small supermarket and a newsstand are located 400 meters from the house.
Getting there
Rovinj is just a few hours' drive from Germany or Austria. Pula Airport is about 30 km from Rovinj, and the Kanfanar train station is about 15 km away. The bus station is located in the old town.
From Germany, the best route is via Munich - A8 to Salzburg - Tauern motorway A10 Villach - Karawanken Tunnel - Ljubljana - continue on the motorway towards Postojna / Koper until the motorway ends in Koper, then about 15 km of country road to the Croatian border - continue on the motorway to Pula / Rovinj until the Rovinj exit (12 km).
From the Istrian Ypsilon, drivers switch from the A8-A9 junction to the D303 and reach Rovinj.
