Holiday destination

Kalamaki is ideally located on the central south coast of Crete to visit the archaeological sites and of course the beautiful beaches of Kalamaki, Komos, Matala, Red Beach, etc. You will find everything your heart desires in the village: public pool, mini markets, bakery, shops and very good restaurants right on the beach, which also provide umbrellas and loungers free of charge.

Getting there

Your destination airport should be Heraklion as it is only about 50 minutes from Kalamaki. We would be happy to organize an airport transfer (taxi) so you can relax while driving. I am also happy to help you to reserve a rental car from a local company. The rental car can be handed over in Kalamaki at any time. This saves you unnecessary waiting time at the rental car counter in Heraklion. You will be picked up personally by our German and English speaking taxi driver at the exit of the arrival hall and your well-deserved vacation begins without any delay.

Ganz tolles, geräumiges Haus in direkter Strandlage. Fußläufig etliche tolle Restaurants und auch eine gute Einkaufsmöglichkeit vorhanden. Am Strand stehen Liegen mit Schirm, die wir kostenlos nutzen konnten. Haben dann aber vorsorglich auch Wasser und Eis aus dem Hotelrestaurant geholt, für das Gewissen. :-) Der Strand ist toll, die Einstiegsmöglichkeit in das Wasser nicht ganz einfach, aufgrund der Felsen, wir haben aber eine gute Stelle gefunden. Auf der Veranda weht meist ein schöner Wind, so dass es selbst bei hohen Temperaturen recht angenehm ist. Eine Liege oder Hängematte auf der Veranda wäre noch toll, ansonsten alles perfekt.

Man ist gleich am schönen Sandstrand von Kalamaki und an der kleinen Strandpromenade mit ansprechenden Tavernen. Alles leicht zu Fuß zu erreichen. Unser Vermieter Georgos hat alles getan, um unseren Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu machen. Die Unterkunft liegt wie eine kleine Oase in der eher kretatypisch kargen Umgebung ein paar Meter vom Strand entfernt. Herrliche Sonnenuntergänge gabs täglich auf der großen, überdachten Veranda zu genießen. Wir hatten einen Mietwagen und sind auch ins nahe Matala, Agia Galini und ins Hinterland nach Festos und Mires gefahren. In ganz Kalamaki gibt es umsonst Liegen und Schirme. In der zweiten Augusthälfte war es für uns sehr angenehm, denn es ist kein überlaufener Ort.
