    In the immediate vicinity of our village is the National Park Lauwersmeer, you should visit, as well as the National Park Schiermonnikoog , the Wadden Sea* and the oldest landscape in the Netherlands, Middag-Humsterland * (*Unesco World Heritage). The area is for walking, cycling or water sports ideal and also has many, mostly small, attractions, galleries and events. Highly recommended is to spend a day on the Wadden island Schiermonnikoog. The boat leaves from Lauwersoog (about 10 minutes by car from Vierhuizen). The cities of Groningen and Dokkum are easily accessible (20 and 30 minutes by car) and offer various entertainment options.
