The northerly Wittow peninsula is ideal for such activities as cycling due to its flat lagoon terrain. You can, for example, ride from here to Vitt, Goor, Dranske, Kreptitzer Heide, Altenkirchen, Wiek, Kuhle, Juliusruh and Breege. There are also options to rent bikes in advance. For example, if you make a reservation at www.ruegen-travel.de/ruegen-fahrrad-verleih-mieten.php, the bikes will be delivered to the "Rügenspitze" apartment building.
Holiday destination
The Wittow peninsula offers an enchanting diversity of features with its meadows, fields, forests, sandy beaches, stony beaches, steep cliffs and unfailingly great views of the Baltic Sea. Head to Putgarten and Cape Arkona to find such attractions as a range of eateries, boutiques, arts and crafts, a playground, an old bunker that houses maritime exhibitions and, of course, some great lighthouses. The picturesque fishing village of Vitt is also nearby.
Getting there
From Stralsund, follow the B96 to Sagard. Shortly before reaching Sagard, turn left towards Glowe. Follow the road until you reach Juliusruh. Shortly before the petrol station in Altenkirchen, turn right and follow the signs towards Kap Arkona (Cape Arkona). Drive past the large car park in Putgarten and turn right into the one-way street. Head through the village and past the Rügenhof until you reach the old school. The Rügenspitze apartment building is located on the left-hand side, just to the right of the old school.

Super Unterkunft in Top-Lage. Sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und alles vorhanden , was man braucht.
Supersauber und sehr weiter zu empfehlen. Sehr nette Gastgeber mit schneller Kommunikation.
Fußläufig von der Unterkunft ist das Kap Arkona erreichbar und z.Bsp. der Nordstrand.
Eine gemütliche Gaststätte die im Herbst abends noch geöffnet hatte (Utspann) ist auch fußläufig erreichbar .Wir haben dort lecker gegessen.
Ansonsten ist Rügen mit seinen vielen Möglichkeiten und abwechslungsreichen Stränden sowieso eine Reise wert. Top- Ausgangspunkt für alle Unternehmungen.
Auf der gemütlichen, abgeschirmten Terrasse kann man abends sehr gut sitzen und den Tag ausklingen lassen. Vielen Dank nochmal an die netten Vermieter.
