The holiday home “Haus am Wald” is located in the charming village of Sauerthal on the Rhine, nestled in a quiet and scenic side valley of the Taunus region. Set slightly back from the road and with no through traffic, the location offers exceptional peace and privacy. With only around 160 residents, Sauerthal has preserved its authentic and almost timeless character – a place where life naturally slows down.
The village is known for its beautifully preserved half-timbered houses, some dating back to the 16th century. In the center, you’ll also find the historic “Sauerborn”, a natural mineral spring that gave the village its name.
Overlooking the village is the impressive Sauerburg, a castle originally built in 1355 as a border fortress. With its striking keep and secluded forest setting, it offers an authentic glimpse into medieval architecture and is a popular destination for hikers.
Sauerthal lies in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a unique cultural landscape featuring more than 40 castles, palaces, and ruins, steep vineyards, and breathtaking views over the Rhine.
Numerous hiking trails start right at your doorstep, including the famous Rheinsteig and the Wispertaunussteig, offering diverse routes through forests, hills, and scenic viewpoints.

Getting there
You can reach Sauerthal via the motorway A66 Frankfurt - Wiesbaden - Eltville, Rüdesheim - Lorch.
In Lorch, take the road to the Wispertal valley. In Lorch, continue for 1 km, then turn left towards Ransel / Sauerthal (3 km).
From Coblenz: via St. Goarshausen to Lorch.

Eine blitzsauberes sorgfältigst ausgestattetes Ferienhaus, sogar eine Teekanne fehlte nicht. Dazu ein schöner Garten mit zwei Terrassen, was für uns Stadtbewohner besonders wichtig ist.
Der plätschernde Bach durch den Garten trug noch zur Erholung und Entspannung bei.
In der schönen Holzhütte am Hang konnten wir auch musizieren, ohne dass unsere Tochter im homeoffice gestört worden wäre.
In der umgebenden Natur konnten wir schöne Wanderungen sowohl vom Haus aus als auch um Lorch herum machen.

Wir haben vor zweiten mal dieses Jahr unserem Ferienwoche in die Ferienwohnung verbracht. Die Ausstatutung der Fewo is gut und ach dem Sauna hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Die umgebung ist Schön mit vielen interresante Burgen direct in der Umgebung. Auch die Stadt Koblenz is schön und interessant. Auch ein besuch am Rudesheim ist sehr an zu befehlen. Fúr die Kinder ist die Sommelrodelbahn toll.
