Other recreational opportunities
Horse-drawn carriage rides through the Wadden Sea to the *Hallig* (small, tide-dependent island) of Südfall. Island tours by covered wagon, departing from Nordstrand. Fishing – at Norderhafen or in the harbor area at Holmer Siel; a temporary fishing permit is available for visitors. Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and sea kayaking on suitable waters around Nordstrand. Searching for seashells on the beach or in the mudflats – a relaxing, nature-oriented activity. Craft workshops and visits to the National Park Centre, ideal for families—especially during inclement weather. Day trips by ferry or boat to the islands of Pellworm, Föhr, Amrum, or Sylt, or to the *Halligen* (small, tide-dependent islands). Excursions to the surrounding area: Husum, Friedrichstadt (with its canals), Tönning, St. Peter-Ording, the Westerhever Lighthouse, the Viking settlement of Hedeby (Haithabu), and Gottorf Castle in Schleswig. Yoga, massages, and sauna facilities at the swimming pool and spa complex in Norderhafen.
Holiday destination
In the immediate vicinity, you can reach the marina, a swimming area, and the outer dike in just a few minutes. Enjoy walks along the dike, cycling tours, mudflat hiking, or a horse-drawn carriage ride to the *Hallig* (small tidal island) of Südfall. The town of Husum, with its historic old town and harbor, makes for a rewarding excursion. The surrounding *Halligen* and the North Frisian Islands—Pellworm, Amrum, Föhr, and Sylt—are accessible by ferry or boat. A unique array of wildlife—in the water, on land, and in the air—invites you to observe and marvel.
