Climb up "wierden" (ancient dwelling mounds) with names like Oostum, Ezinge, Niehove, Saaksum, Feerwerd, Garnwerd and Dorkwerd. Visit the remaining wierden villages, and enjoy their quiet old churches and farms. Lose yourself in the expansive views of the city and surroundings.
Take a day trip to Schier. You can choose to walk through marshlands and dunes, along the beach, through the village, or along the dike.

Die Wohnung ist top ausgestattet (incl. der zur Verfügung gestellten Lebensmittel) und ist sehr sauber. Die Gastgeber sind sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit. Die Lage ist absolut ruhig und das Dorf sehr schön. Die Umgebung bietet viel und man kann jede Menge unternehmen. Auf jeden Fall können wir einen Aufenthalt in De Kastanje sehr empfehlen!

The holiday cottage is amazing, fully equipped kitchen, roomy living and bathroom and beautiful bedrooms. A very green yard for relaxing. Magdeleen and Ben are very hospitable.
