• Visit Alkmaar’s famous cheese market, held every Friday from the last Friday in March to the last Friday in September, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. In July and August, there are also Tuesday evening markets from 7:00–9:00 p.m • Several excellent restaurants nearby, including local favourites and a highly recommended Indian restaurant with takeaway and delivery. • Bike rentals are available nearby, including electric bikes, scooters and electric cargo bikes. • Ready to get out on the water? Hire a canoe, kayak or SUP board from Kanoverhuur De Aker in Uitgeest. Explore Alkmaardermeer or paddle through the nature reserve towards Krommenie. • Explore the dunes on horseback! Enjoy a guided ride through the dunes or along the beach with Manege Groot in nearby Egmond aan den Hoef. Book ahead—riding experience is required for dune rides. • Fancy a spot of fishing? A fishing permit from Dilvis is required to fish on Alkmaardermeer—a standard Dutch VISpas alone is not enough. You can get a day, monthly or annual permit online or from the Dilvis shop at Kerklaan 40 in Akersloot. Each angler fishing from a boat needs their own permit.
Holiday destination
The villa is in a peaceful neighbourhood, just a two-minute walk from the Alkmaardermeer and a local cycling route. A supermarket is within walking distance and open until 8 pm. The beaches of Castricum and Egmond are about 11 km away, roughly a 15-minute drive. Explore historic Alkmaar nearby, or visit Amsterdam, about 25 km away and around a 30-minute drive. You can also take the train to Amsterdam from Uitgeest Station.

Vom Bahnhof Uitgeest: Nehmen Sie einen Bus in Richtung Akersloot und steigen Sie an einer Haltestelle im Ort aus. Die Buurtweg 17 ist von dort aus nicht weit entfernt. Aktuelle Verbindungen und Abfahrtszeiten finden Sie auf 9292.nl. Mit dem Auto: Geben Sie „Buurtweg 17, Akersloot“ in Ihr Navigationssystem ein und folgen Sie der Route.
